About Jiaobei: Ask the Divine Demo
About Jiaobei:
Jiaobei is a traditional Chinese method of divination, also known as “casting jiao” or “casting beijiao.” It is mainly used to seek guidance from and communicate with deities. It consists of two crescent-shaped wooden or bamboo pieces, each with a flat side (yang) and a rounded side (yin). After they are cast onto the ground, the result is interpreted according to how they land:
One flat side and one rounded side is a “Sacred Cup,” which means the deity permits, agrees, or confirms, or that the situation will proceed smoothly.
Two flat sides is a “Laughing Cup,” which means the question was not asked clearly enough, or the deity is not giving a definite answer. The question should be reorganized and asked again.
Two rounded sides is a “Yin Cup,” which means the deity does not agree, it is not permitted, or the timing is not right.
In some regions, three consecutive Sacred Cups are regarded as a clear sign from the deity.
This desktop software uses a real physics engine to simulate the actual Jiaobei casting process, and the result obtained is the user’s real physical throwing result.
Notes for Casting Jiaobei:
Do not show disrespect to the deities.
Ask only one matter at a time.
When casting Jiaobei, you must stay focused. Do not talk to others, watch TV, or think about unrelated things.
Do not cast the Jiaobei before you have finished making your request.
Do not be suspicious, greedy, or fearful.
Make your question as clear as possible. Yes-or-no questions are best.
Do not cast repeatedly for the same question, and avoid asking the same thing again and again within a short period of time.
